A chemicals import permit from the CIB&RC is required to import certain scheduled substances — such as boric acid and biocides — into India, including for industrial or other non-insecticidal use. Following the Insecticides Third (Amendment) Rules, 2026, non-insecticidal import permits are applied for in Form IA. Do I need a permit to import chemicals like boric acid into India?

What is Form IA?
Form IA is the application form for a non-insecticidal-use import permit, introduced by the Insecticides Third (Amendment) Rules, 2026 (Chapter III-A of the Insecticides Rules, 1971). Permits are applied for in this form with the prescribed fee.
What does the import-permit application need to show?
